Teriyaky Sauce is a nice ginger and soy based sweet sauce that works amazingly on rice, poultry and fish. This is my simple recipe for making it at home.
Prep time: ~10 mins
Ingredients:
- 250 ml water
- 50 ml soy sauce
- 20 g brown sugar
- a tablespoon of honey
- 5 g of crushed ginger
- 2.5 g of crushed garlic
- 10 g of cornstarch
Preparation:
- Put the water, soy sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic and honey in a sacucepan over medium to low heat while mixing to disolve the sugar and honey.
- Leave for about a minute so that it is nice and warm
- add the cornstarch with roughly half a glass of water to a bowl and mix.
- add the cornstarch mix into the soucepan and stir until it’s all nice and smooth
- keep on low heat for another 5mins.
Tips:
- If it looks too thicc you can add more water to get it to the texture you want.
- I usually take it off the hob while it’s still quite liquid and store it in a bottle. If I need it for rice I like it more liquid, if I have to add to meat or fish I just put it on the hob for a while to thicken it.
